Today, I made a GRAND discovery, most part time, school holiday workers in Kuching are underpaid and overworked - slave labour

Yupz, Kuching is officially a slave labouring city that preys on poor sales assistants, promoters, waitress, cashiers and yes, even baristas.

Slave labour = RM2.50 per hour (yupz, it's two fifty per hour, nope, i didn't type wrongly there)

Jaclyn and I actually went to Coffee Bean first (yes, the Coffee Bean, not some ciplak Coffee Bean) and found that they pay workers RM2.50 (which is actually the highest we've discovered so far...)
We were shocked...did not even begin to cover the we were shocked feeling we had. Then, we went to Body Shop, Tom's, Bing!, Tao and Memories which were all paying us...you know how much...

I suppose I have no choice but to turn into a slave labourer if I want to do a part time job. Haiz.

Part time job....take one!
Okay, so I found a job YESTERDAY (too lazy to blog yesterday because I was too damn tired when I got back so yea, I lied bout being able to post 365 times...) and I quit my job 9 hours later! Whoo...what a record! That must be my shortest time it took for me to loose a job...and it’s my first job to boot!

It started out on a bright sunny day when Jaclyn and I decided to go round and look for part time jobs. I mean, I wasn’t really looking for a job, more like scouting so I wasn’t exactly trying or hoping to get a job...har har har...look what happened...
Anyways, we started off with lunch at Tun Jugah cause of the food court there...I think we’re a wee bit too used to eating Asia Café style...haha...so our first stop was Populars because I think working at a bookshop is...okay? Cause you get to read all those books when you’re suppose to be working…or something like that... Anyways, attempt number 1 failed...apparently they weren’t short handed at the moment...
So we thought to head over to coffee bean...and, I saw...ta ta ta tum...this computer shop and I was thinking, why not, just go and ask. It’s not as if we’d get a job there...owh whatever are the possibilities (note the sarcasm).
So we went in...and I talked to the boss...it went a little something like this:

Me: We’re looking for part time jobs actually so we were wondering if you have any available?

Boss: Actually (suddenly sounding very excited...which is not a good thing for us...) we’re in need of people...

Jac and I were like, yes...not bad...

Boss: Can you start now...?

Jac and I....urrmmm..?

Boss: We’ll pay 2.50 per hour

Jac and I....oookay...sounds okay....

Boss: Can you start now?

And that, my friends, was how I got conned into taking a job at the Fujitsu/Mac store, promoting...Which was a boring as hell!

Stock checked for 6 freaking hours...I now know the store intimately so I’ll know what they sell and what they don’t and what brand they sell and whatsoever and I shall never never never stock check if I’m a newbie because it is DAMN hard to find all the stocks, especially if you have a lot of stock and that you have to count them and sometimes it’s hard to reach for certain items...did I mention it’s hard to find all the stocks especially when they have names you don’t know...
Next...
I stood like there like a dungu...
Stood around some more
Then...
Stood around a little bit more
Read some brochures...
Stand around a bit more...
Occasionally talk to Jac...

Frankly, I tried to kill 3 freaking hours by standing...haha... Anyways, by 6 Jaclyn was asking, can we quit? Cause it’s so FREAKING boring! And I was in total agreement...totally totally and yups...totally...
So 9 hours after we signed up, we went to the boss and we said...can we quit?
So that my friends, is how I earned RM22.50 after standing around doing nothing...
Not bad...at least I’m not at home, sitting around and doing nothing and I wouldn’t get RM22.50...haha
